Mesut Kaya joined Lexist in 2017 and is a Partner in the Corporate/M&A and Banking & Finance teams. He focuses on projects and M&As in highly regulated sectors, nuclear and financial services in particular.
Mesut has a rare niche and hands-on experience in nuclear energy matters and was seconded to a nuclear project owner EUAS International ICC, a subsidiary of Elektrik Uretim A.S which is the largest electricity utilities company in Turkey. Mesut has since advised on three Turkey-based nuclear power plant projects. His main services consisted of providing corporate governance solutions, drafting IGAs and host government agreements as well as implementation agreements and PPAs. During his work for EUAŞ, he also advised on the unique EPC contract requirements for newly built nuclear power plant projects and technology transfer agreements.
Mesut also has deep knowledge of Administrative Law, the Law of Obligations and the establishment and activities of sovereign wealth funds. He has been a team member of several motorway, hydroelectric power plants, M&A, bond issuance, digital banking, payment systems and restructuring projects.
Mesut takes his social responsibility commitments seriously and provides career mentorship and guidance to law and non-law students from Marmara University.
Before joining Lexist, Mesut worked in the litigation department of a reputable law firm. He played an important role in disputes arising from public tenders and contracts, construction law and commercial claims.
